The Easiest Way to Find the Value of Vintage Sewing Machines
So you have an old sewing machine and ask yourself, is it worth anything? Great question. The first thing you should do before you find the value of a vintage sewing machine is the age of the find them.
It's actually a very simple thing to do. Let me go through the steps you need to do to see if your it has no value. The following steps are a singer-model, but is similar processes for otherManufacturers.
Newer Singer machines go by model number (slightly higher than, say, 1960). The oldest machines do not have model numbers, but had serial numbers. At this point I would assume that this is a vintage sewing machine, and therefore it was manufactured before 1960.
The serial number will be removed when the model number was, which is displayed on the model number on the side of Singer page. A typical serial number, a 6-9digit number provided with one or two letters. Note that if there is no letter prefix, then the machine was made before 1900.
If you have received a serial number, use the information on the Singer web site to check if the sewing machine was found established.
Now that you have determined the age of it, then you can determine the value of IT. There are several ways to do this to get an assessment or have a look and see what other similarMachines are for sale online. For me, the best way to find out, a gross sale price on eBay or Craigslist and see all the listed visit.
Here is how you would get an approximate value for your vintage sewing machines. Go to eBay.com. At the top of the page click on [New]. Then click on 'Antiques' in the area buy from these categories. Scroll down to "Sewing (Pre-1930)" and then click on "sewing machines". What you willlisted is the current auctions of antique sewing machines.
If you want to be more precise, enter the serial number in the "Search" field, then click click [Find]. The disadvantage of this method is that the seller can not list the serial number and you will be returned no results, but it could be a way to shorten the list. Do not try to hurt.
Then what you can do is scroll through the pages and see what price the people have for their vintage sewing machines. As the auction lasts only a short time, you must repeatedly on a weekly basis or so to see a list of other machines to be sold. Therefore, this process can take several weeks before you see enough data to see what you could possibly buy through the sale of your own old sewing machine to have.

| Review by V. C. Spalding (CLARKSVILLE, TN, US) 2010-02-22 This machine is BRAND NEW but even with the manual, I cannot find out why the sewing machine will sew part of the button hole and not the rest of it! I have been sewing with Singers for over 30 years--was excited about the one-step buttonhole feature on this. | Review by Colleen Wilhelm (Port Angeles, WA) 2010-01-31 This machine works great for me right outta the box. Easy to thread and wind the bobbin. Thread tension is just right. Foot pedal is easy for me to control. I am very happy with my purchase of this refurbished machine. | Review by A. Kelly (USA) 2010-03-03 This really is a great machine for the price, but it took a while to figure out why the bobbin wouldn't set properly. Turns out the manual was not clear and I was doing it wrong. Now that I've got it figured out, I have about a 90% success rate with the bobbin. | Review by Marie H. (USA) 2010-02-11 I found this to be a wonderful machine, a miracle, and I was in love with it for the first few hours.
